These are distinct steps. Disinfectionĭisinfecting your lenses is necessary for all lens users. However, if you use the PROSE Disinfection Case for larger lenses, it takes 1.5oz (44 mL) of solution to fill it up to the line. How much will I use?įor the standard case included in this kit (suitable for smaller lenses), it takes about 1/2 oz (15 mL) to fill it up to the fill line. Some data published in optometric periodicals suggests that the disc does not last through as many uses, which may explain why we've had reports in the user groups online about lens discomfort when using a generic. The only serious issue I know of when considering a generic is potential differences in performance of the neutralizing disc. Users with lenses too large for the CLEAR CARE case should purchase the PROSE Disinfection Case. ![]() The case included with standard CLEAR CARE kits cannot be used with PROSE devices and cannot be used safely with large scleral lenses either. These discs are NOT sold separately the only way to get them is to purchase a CLEAR CARE kit or similar. This disc can only be used a certain number of times, and should be replaced every two months. ![]() Using hydrogen peroxide disinfection involves soaking the lenses for a specified number of hours overnight in a special case filled with hydrogen peroxide solution and containing a "platinum disc" that neutralizes the saline. All kits include case and platinum disc (neutralizing agent)ĬLEAR CARE is the gold standard for overnight disinfection of PROSE and scleral lenses.Choice of 12-oz / 355 mL twin pack or travel size (3oz / 89 mL).Requires special case (included), but PROSE devices and larger scleral lenses require the use of a PROSE disinfection case instead (sold separately).Hydrogen peroxide disinfection system (used overnight).See our Backorders and Known Shortages page for more information.12 oz Single and Twin Packs are on backorder at the manufacturer until further notice.I don't wear contacts daily anymore though so don't go through nearly as much-my eyes can't handle them like they used to I guess. But haven't done so yet as I have about 3 older bottles of re-nu to go through first. I also picked up a B&L Bio True in the same format from Costco, just to try it out. Today I use B&L re-nu exclusively pretty much as I don't really need to save a couple bucks, plus when on sale at Costblo, it's a great deal anyway-2x480mL plus the 60ml (sorry I said 120 but it's 60) travel bottle for like $15 or whatever. The only one I ever had a problem with was Opti-Free, so used that once and never again. I actually switched up and used various MP ones (never used salines) when I was younger too. But any time B&L was on sale I'd get that, it got renamed a few times over the years, now called simply "re-nu". I started out way back when with B&L RMP, but I was a teenager and Solo Care was cheaper so I bought that a long time. Looks like the only difference is the "moisture matrix business". Oh the regular (non Plus) stuff has peroxide too eh? Weird. Used aosept or whatever it was called before. Nah, used clean care for however long it’s been out. ![]()
